Hidden by a curtain of trees, this residence can be accessed via a footbridge connecting the parking lot to the house. The sloping terrain allows for a layout where the living spaces are located upstairs, at the height of the tree canopy. From the outside, the volume clad in black wood and topped with a black metal roof highlights the colors of nature, maintaing a close relationship with its surroundings. From the inside, the house, thanks to its abundant windows, opens onto a setting that offers the occupants different and changing views of the wooded landscape depending on the season.

This project is characterized by simplicity, both in terms of its volume and materiality and its interior design. The residence echoes the vernacular form of the traditional house: a rectangular floor plan with a gabled roof. Extrusions in the main volume, marked by a contrasting color, were created to integrate the covered gallery, vertical circulation, and services. On both the upper and lower floors, the rooms flow into one another and the openings align, providing natural light and ventilation. At the far end of the residence, terraces overlook the surrounding vegetation.

Located in the center of the open space between the dining room and living room, the kitchen was intended as a gathering place. People eat, cook, chat, and socialize around the islands. Thus, the building embodies the warm and friendly family spirit of a typical Laurentian cottage.
