Despite its many transformations over time, Miner Park retains its role as a gathering place and social hub, thanks to its central location and layout.
Granby has a rich and diverse history, blending French-Canadian and English-Canadian influences. Over the years, this city has evolved from political and economic importance to values centered on family and respect for the environment. It is in this spirit of preserving the soul of Granby while responding to current needs that our architectural project is taking shape.
At the heart of this transformation, Miner Park emerges as a symbol of gathering and socializing. Donated to French-Canadians by S.H.C. Miner in 1910, it has long served as a venue for band performances and political speeches. Today, our project aims to extend this legacy by creating a livable, vertical space that embodies the contemporary values of the city of Granby.
Our design is based on permeability, both physical and social. We want to connect residents and the public, forging social and spatial links through harmonious paths and routes. The project aims to be a lively, green gathering place, with shared spaces that promote connectivity between residents and nature.
This real estate redevelopment proposal is intended to reflect Granby's current values while preserving the rich architectural features that recall its bi-cultural past. It embodies the city's transformation from its industrial history to a future focused on family, the environment, and community. Moreover, as a significant symbol, the circle occupies an important place in the project. As a form omnipresent in nature, it is a reminder of values like unity and protection, which are essential to such a project.
