This project involved the construction of two high-density residential buildings in a low-density neighborhood. Taking this reality into account, the layout was carefully designed to minimize the impact of the change in scale in the neighborhood. Side margins were also planned with a considerable setback to avoid casting shadows on adjacent low-density properties.
In order to preserve the view of Lake St-François, the project consists of two long blocks separated by a large green area available for the use of the occupants. Maximum balcony space is provided in the form of a continuous walkway around buildings’ perimeter. White steel dividing panels punctuate and give rhythm to the balcony facades, contrasting, from a distance, with the silver-colored steel envelope. This second skin gives rhythm and variety to an otherwise very simple form.
